ABOUT ZandF is an ECU tuning company specialising in post 1999 MG Rover products.
The business is run by a professional automotive EMS consultant with over 20 years experience
- including time spent as an engineer with MG Rover from 1997- 2004.
The vehicles pictured below are just a few examples of those closely involved with in original development - the MGF Trophy,TF, ZR, ZS and ZT Turbo models, plus their Rover badged cousins.
We still own several Longbridge prototypes including a very rare ZR K series1.8 turbo.
We formed a closed relationship with MG Sport and Racing by producing the engine calibration for the ZR/TF190 factory race cars as well as providing optimised road car tunes for certain models. We also entered our own TF Cup race car in the MG Car Club Trophy series, and act as ECU scrutineers in the championship at the request of the MGCC.

We have continued to enhance the MG range, targetting improved throttle response and boosting power, with the flexibility to increase the rev limiter or provide ignition maps to suit higher octane fuel if required.

FAQ HOW It Works
The core of our service is to offer noticeable improvements without significant hardware modification - generating a useful power increase
coupled with a more satisfying throttle response.. Have a look at slide1 below - which is a chart sent by a TF customer showing 176 bhp in a
dyno check! In graphs 2 and 3 (click to enlarge) we have an example of how other benefits are achieved - note how the std TF 135 ignition is
retarded heavily for a brief period causing a momentary loss of torque (in this example from a 0 - 50% throttle application)
We remove this characteristic and optimise ignition values to provide a much cleaner torque response..
Additionally in development, power levels were constrained by marketing requirements - in the1.8 Turbo models engine output had to fit below
the V6 power units for example. We alter boost/ignition and fuelling to release the engines potential as you can see in the Turbo power curves
in slide 4...
There are three ways to arrange your installation...
1 We come to you - the most convenient way to get your upgrade... Note mileage charges at 50p/mile apply if you are further than
50 miles from our Banbury location.
2 You post your ecu to us - another convenient option if you can be without your car for an anticpated three - four day turnaround.
3 You arrange to meet us at our base near Banbury for the installation...
Note we are associated with a highly respected classic car specialist -The Village Garage, Boddington.This means assistance with
intake/exhaust upgrades on your car (or even a whole engine overhaul) is available in unison with an ecu upgrade.

Driving Directions
Take the M40 Banbury exit then join the A361 signposted Chipping Warden/Daventry.
Follow this scenic route until you reach Byfield.
Turn left from there towards Upper Boddington..
After around 3 miles the road will reach our location - The Village Garage, adjacent to 'The Plough' pub on the left...
We work by appointment only,and can be available in the evenings and at weekends by arrangement if required.

Page 6 You will notice a much crisper engine response, stronger acceleration rates and a livelier engine note - the upgrade will even give you an option to include a satisfying overun burble /gearchange crackle which works particularly well with an aftermarket exhaust system. We can also provide tune modifications for specific customer builds such as 1.6VVC, TF/ZR Turbo, and of course a personalised race set up as required.
What ARE The KEY Benefits OF an Upgrade?
Which CARS are ABLE to GET an Upgrade?
This is an IMPORTANT point - We are currently only able to reconfigure MG Rover cars fitted with 4 cylinder
K Series Mems 3 power units.
We are unable to support V6 or diesel units at present.
How DO I Know WHETHER I have a MEMS 3 Car?
All MG TF,ZR,ZS,ZT and Rover 25,45 and 75 4 cylinder cars will be running Mems 3. Some late model MGFs may also be running the system - To confirm this Mems 3 runs plug top coils and has a slim wedge shape ECU. Earlier Mems systems
had a more blocky ribbed ECU .
No. Remember, our retunes are developed by the original factory engineers - who have the knowledge to optimise engine running within known durability limits to provide a more exciting driving experience.
Similarly, emission performance is unaffected and fuel economy may even be enhanced with the more efficient ignition timing used in our calibrations. We must point out that you should ensure your car is in good order to get the full benefit of the installation - as we have said our retune will work within normal design limits. We cannot accept responsibilty for the natural mechanical issues that may affect the K series engine over time such as the dreaded head gasket!

We'll leave that up to you!The retune will be installed in the original factory ECU and will not change the appearance of the engine installation. Power levels are still well within the handling and braking capabilities of the car.
